WELCOME TO THE SALOPIAN INN
McLaren Vale is home to the oldest Australian vineyard, but well before the first wineries opened the Vale was home to a thriving brewing trade.
To satisfy thirsty travelers, the Salopian Inn opened its doors in 1851, originally called Gumprs after its original owner. The Salopian took its present moniker (meaning a native of Shropshire) three years later.
In 2009 McLaren Vale Beer company made the Salopian Inn its home and returned the hostelry to its original purpose - to provide thirsty travelers and hard working locals with the finest refreshments.
Boasting a world-class restaurant, with the energetic and original Billy Dohnt as head chef, and an unparalleled selection of beer, local, interstate and overseas wines, the Salopian Inn exudes the quality of the beer that calls it home.
